Online Sermons: This is the right way to do it!

Posted by on 2:18 am in Church Websites | 1 comment

The multimedia section of a church website is often the most visited, especially when fresh content, in the form of online sermons and lessons, are added on a regular basis. Providing an archive of past sermons on the website can be a great resource for church members, but it may surprise you to find out that the majority of visitors to a church’s streaming media page are not members at all. Thanks to the popularity of social media networks like Facebook and Twitter, links to the pastor’s latest online sermons are quickly shared...

Posted by on 4:02 am in Church Websites | Comments Off on Which Content Management System Should I Use? (part3)

Before we get started let’s make sure we’re all on the same page. Exactly what is a Content Management System (CMS)? In a nutshell, it’s a software application you install on your web server to simplify the management and editing of your website’s content and design. Many of you remember the early days of the internet when we had to write HTML code in a text editor. Old school programmer’s loved it but, it made website creation inaccessible to the average person. CMS eliminates the need to learn a programming...

Choosing a Host for Your Church Website (part2)

Posted by on 12:09 am in Church Websites | Comments Off on Choosing a Host for Your Church Website (part2)

Choosing a web host for your Church website is the first, and one of the most critical decisions you will make when it comes to establishing a successful online presence.  Your church building has a physical foundation. Think of your web host provider as the foundation of your “virtual church.” It’s crucial that your church website is built on a solid foundation. (Think Matthew 7:26) DO NOT cut corners when it comes to web hosting. [ad#blog-content] Oh no! This is going to be expensive! Anytime someone tells you not to cut...

Creating a Dynamic Church Website to Reach Your Community and Beyond (part1)

Posted by on 4:20 am in Church Websites | 1 comment

According to a survey of protestant churches conducted by Lifeway Research in September 2010 (1), only 78% of Protestant churches have a website and nearly half of those churches are not using their website effectively. The second stat doesn’t surprise me as much as the first. When you visit a few random church websites it becomes clear that most churches are using their web presence for nothing more than an online brochure. But it’s hard to believe that 22% of churches in 2012 still have no website. I can’t think of a...

Overcoming obstacles

If you are reading this post, I’m sure that you have run into an obstacle that was or is difficult to overcome. I can’t even count the ones anymore that I have faced in my lifetime that I either had to overcome or give up on.  For the most part I’ve learned with the help of the Lord to overcome them. I’m not saying that it’s easy to do, but it is possible. I’m thinking of a verse that may help: “ Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto...

The meaning of Christmas

Posted by on 10:43 pm in Featured | 1 comment

It is this time of year again where we give gifts one to another, and that’s a good thing as long as we don’t lose the meaning of what Christmas is supposed to be about. I saw this plaque at a friend’s house:  “You can give without loving, but you can’t love without giving” As I read this saying, the words from John 3:16 came to mind: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” He gave us everything! He gave His Son, He gave His...

Is working online OK for a Christian?

Posted by on 11:26 pm in Internet | 1 comment

I have asked that question myself, if it is okay for a Christian to be working online and have  prayed about it too. The verse in I Tim. 6:10 came to mind. “For the  love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.”  So, making money is not the problem here, but when we become covetous or greedy, and our motives are not in line with the Bible, then we are in trouble. The first website I came across after I had prayed about this working...
