Since the 1970s it has been a common site to see a fan sitting directly behind the goal posts holding up a John 3:16 sign during field goal attempts. I remember as a kid seeing a man with a rainbow colored wig holding up one of these signs. Tim Tebow, the former University of Florida Heisman Trophy winning quarterback and current Denver Broncos quarterback, routinely had a bible verse written on his eye black patches.
