Liberty University puts an end to the school sponsored Democrat club, saying “We are unable to lend support to a club whose parent organization stands against the moral principles held by the university.” Way to go Liberty University!

A student that chooses to enroll at Liberty University knows exactly where the school stands before they choose to attend. Anyone that spends more than ten minutes on campus will know. I spent four days at Liberty in March and it was quite obvious that the University stands firm on the Word of God and they expect the same from their students.

Liberty University’s Democrat club was formed last October and has only managed to attract thirty members on a campus with 18,000 students. That’s in an election year when the Democrats were enormously successful.

Liberty students are strong in their Christian faith and they know this is in direct conflict with the Democrat party. This explains why only 1 in 600 Liberty students joined the College Democrats.

I applaud Liberty University for taking a stand against the moral depravity represented by the Democrat party’s social platform. We can have our disagreements as Christian’s on the validity of welfare, healthcare reform, the war on terrorism and tax increases, but there should be no room for debate in the Christian community when it comes to the sanctity of marriage and the unborn.

As expected, the news of Liberty University’s new policy banning the Democrat club has liberals screaming about first amendment rights. This argument shows a complete lack of understanding of the Constitution. Liberty University has not violated anyone’s first amendment rights, or any other constitutionally protected rights, by banning the school sponsored democrat club.

In fact, Liberty University is not capable of violating anyone’s Constitutional rights. The Constitution protects our God given rights from being violated by the government, not a private Christian university. Now if a public University, like Southern Cal were to implement the same policy it would be a different story.

The newly constructed US Capitol Visitor’s Center opened last week and democrats like Senator Harry Reid were quick to praise their new “temple”. Reid even suggested that they wouldn’t have to “smell the tourists” any more.

So why do I call it a temple? Actually, that’s not my word of choice. The following is proudly engraved on the walls of the visitor’s center for all to see.

We have built no temple but the Capitol. We consult no common oracle but the Constitution.

Let’s examine that phrase. “We have built no temple but the Capitol.” What is a temple? It’s a place of worship. If the capitol is a temple then that implies that the object of worship is the government.

“We consult no common oracle but the Constitution” An oracle is one who delivers a message from a supreme being (God).

In essence, this phrase proclaims that we worship government above all else and that we consult no higher power other than the Unites States Constitution. This phrase is actually engraved on the wall in the United States Capitol visitor’s center.

Can there be any doubt that the days of this country are numbered? We have turned our backs on God as a nation and God will not permit this to continue for long. In fact, our demise may have already begun.

We’re now less than three weeks away from the 2008 Presidential election and America is on the verge of electing the most liberal, Marxist leaning President in history.

While Obama claims the Christian faith, he has surrounded himself with people that hate Christianity. These people want the government involved in every aspect of our lives. They want government controlled health care, government censorship of television and radio (“Fairness Doctrine”), redistribution of wealth and the removal of God from every aspect of American society.

These are the type people which are supporting Barack Obama and these are the type of people behind Obama’s rise to power. Ask yourself why?

They know that Obama supports their Marxist, anti-Christian views and they are excited at the thought of putting a man in office that will tranform America into a socialist state.

While America is no longer the country that the founding Father’s intended, a Barack Obama Presidency will likely send America down an irreversiible path to Soviet style Marxism. Is this the man you want as President?

McDonald’s reverses it’s position after the Christian based American Family Association called for a nationwide boycott. Apparently Christians were eating a lot of Big Macs and Happy Meals.

Back in July I made a post about McDonald’s support of gay activists groups, specifically a $20,000 donation to the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC) and the Vice President of McDonalds, Richard Ellis, serving on the NGLCC board.

Initially McDonald’s stood by their support of the NGLCC. CEO Jim Skinner said “Being a socially responsible organization is a fundamental part of who we are. We have an obligation to use our size and resources to make a difference in the world … and we do.”

What a difference a three month boycott can make. The American Family Association announced today that McDonald’s has reversed it’s position and agreed to remain neutral on social and political issues. McDonald’s announced that Vice President, Richard Ellis has resigned from the organizations board and that membership in NGLCC will not be renewed once it expires in December.

McDonald’s sent an email to it’s franchise owners saying, “It is our policy to not be involved in political and social issues. McDonald’s remains neutral on same sex marriage or any ‘homosexual agenda’ as defined by the American Family Association.”

This year I have seen more and more news stories that bring scripture to life like never before.

Bill Maher, a standup comedian, talk show host, actor, political commentator and agnostic, set out to mock God in his new movie, Religulous. But in so doing, he simply helped validate God’s Word.

Religulous challenges the existence of God as presented by Christianity and other major religions. In doing so, Bill Maher travels around the world mocking those that hold strong religious convictions. The film focuses on the most fringe elements of the various religions and attempts to depict them as the norm for those of us that worship God.

My first reaction to this film was anger. That’s not the reaction we should have as Christians. First, we should pray for Bill Maher. Not a patronizing prayer, but a sincere prayer for this man’s salvation.

Second, this is just one more sign that Jesus’s return is imminent. Instead of being mad, rejoice! And keep watching for the return of Christ. We’re one day closer than we were yesterday!

Starting September 1, Coca-Cola will introduce a newly designed can featuring the Islamic crest and star as part of a month long celebration of Ramadan. The design will only appear on cans sold in Muslim countries.

Since 9-11 it seems like the companies and the media have done everything they can to embrace Islam, while at the same time slamming Christianity and Judaism every chance they get.

In the end, this raises an interesting question. Will Coke feature a Christian design with a cross this Christmas, or a Jewish Star of David for Hanukkah ? I think I know the answer to that but we’ll wait and see.

And for anyone that would try to make the argument that Coke already has a Christian design that features Santa and a polar Bear… Santa is not a Christian symbol. He is a secular symbol, like the Easter Bunny, that distracts people from the true celebration of Christmas.

I’m not calling on Coke to use a Cross on their cans. How about just selling COKE instead of targeting the terrorist market.

Do you realize it has been almost seven years since Islamic terrorists flew hijacked planes into the World Trade Center towers and the Pentagon? It’s one of those defining moments in time when you’ll always remember where you were and what you were doing when you first heard the news. There have been only a handful of such events in my lifetime (I’m 39)… President Regan being shot, the space shuttle disasters, both Challenger and Columbia and September 11, 2001, forever designated as 9-11.

Do you remember how our nation responded in the days and weeks following 9-11. Although tragic, it was a time that made us all proud to be Americans.

Three weeks following 9-11 I was on vacation with my family in Myrtle Beach, SC. We were having dinner at Hard Rock Cafe, a rock & roll themed restaurant that plays music videos on multiple large screens. The restaurant was filled with the sounds of silverware striking plates, waitresses taking orders, children laughing, patrons chatting and of course, lots of loud music.

As the song ended… “‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land, God bless the USA”, customers and employees erupted in a cheer normally reserved for college football stadiums. The cheer eventually turned into a chant… USA! USA! USA!

At that moment there were no Democrats or Republicans, liberals or conservatives… only proud Americans… angry Americans… Americans ready to go after the enemy… Americans ready to support their President.

patriotism – love for or devotion to one’s country.

The previous week, on September 20, 2001, President Bush addressed Congress. At the same time In Philadelphia, the New York Rangers and the Philadelphia Flyers were tied at 2-2 and were preparing to start the third period. During the intermission the beginning of President Bush’s speech was playing on the big screens above the scoreboard. As the teams took to the ice the screens went blank and the game was set to resume. That’s went something unusual happened. 19,117 hockey fans began to boo. Then they began to chant… “Leave it on!”

Fans that had paid over $50 per ticket to see their Flyers play hockey were demanding to hear the President’s speech instead. They got their wish. The speech was returned to the video screens and both teams returned to their benches.

In that speech, President Bush left no doubt about the path that America was about to travel.

“Our war on terror begins with al Qaeda, but it does not end there. It will not end until every terrorist group of global reach has been found, stopped and defeated.” (Loud applause by both parties.)

“This war will not be like the war against Iraq a decade ago, with a decisive liberation of territory and a swift conclusion. It will not look like the air war above Kosovo two years ago, where no ground troops were used and not a single American was lost in combat.”

“Our response involves far more than instant retaliation and isolated strikes. Americans should not expect one battle, but a lengthy campaign, unlike any other we have ever seen. It may include dramatic strikes, visible on TV, and covert operations, secret even in success. We will starve terrorists of funding, turn them one against another, drive them from place to place, until there is no refuge or no rest. And we will pursue nations that provide aid or safe haven to terrorism. Every nation, in every region, now has a decision to make. Either you are with us, or you are with the terrorists. (loud applause from both parties.) From this day forward, any nation that continues to harbor or support terrorism will be regarded by the United States as a hostile regime.”

Every time the President delivered a strong statement about going after the enemy, the fans erupted into cheers so loud that it drowned out the applause coming from the house chamber. But as soon as the President began to speak again, the crowd instantly became silent.

As the President concluded his speech 36 minutes later, the fans were chanting U-S-A and waiving American flags, a scene reminiscent of the 1980 Lake Placid Winter Olympics when a young USA team shocked the world by beating a much more experienced USSR team to claim the gold. But on this night they were not cheering for a hockey team. They were cheering on their President and sending a message to the world that the United States of America will not tolerate an attack on our homeland.

The game was never finished. Players said it just didn’t seem right to play hockey that night.

Fast forward seven years to 2008 and we now have a country that is resentful of a President that has done exactly what he said he was going to do, a country that thinks we shouldn’t be at war with Muslim extremists, and a country on the verge of electing a president named Barrack Hussein Obama and thinks that we should end this war.

In 2001, Barrack Obama was unknown to most Americans outside of Chicago. What would you have thought, if on September 12, 2001, you somehow were able to peer into the future and see a newspaper from January 2009 with the following headline: “Barrack Hussein Obama Sworn In As 44th President of the United States”? I know what I would have thought. The terrorists have won.

So what happened between 2001 and 2008 that caused such a u-turn in the American psyche? Are we no longer the nation that fought for freedom from British oppression and defended Europe from Nazi and communist schemes to conquer the world? What happened to that America?

For years, democrats have been trying to reinstate the so called Fairness Doctrine in an effort to silence conservative talk shows on the radio. Now the FCC is considering new regulations that could devastate the Christian radio industry.

The first rule change would force radio stations to take programming advice from a local advisory committee representative of the area’s population. If the station refuses, the advisory committee can file a complaint with the FCC which would delay broadcast license renewals.

Stations would also be required to file a quarterly report detailing their programming and how it represents a cross section of the local population.

Another proposed change would force stations to grant a portion of air time to any public group making a request, similar to cable companies public access channels.

The FCC is also considering a rule that would put the broadcast license renewal in the hands of politically appointees. You can imagine how this would affect the renewal of Christian broadcast licenses. Any station that broadcasts messages opposed to sinful lifestyles would surely lose their license in areas where liberals are in charge of approving their renewals.

You would think a large public company, especially one that markets heavily toward children, would at a minimum remain neutral when it comes to issues like homosexuality. McDonald’s apparently doesn’t agree as they unapologetically endorsed homosexuality by making a $20,000 donation to the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC).

The donation gives McDonald’s membership in the NGLCC as well as a seat on the group’s board of directors. The NGLCC is a homosexual activists group that lobbies elected official to pass pro-homosexual legislation, including laws to legalize homosexual marriage.

The American Family Association (AFA) has requested that McDonald’s simply take a neutral position on homosexual matters. Pat Harris, Global Chief Diversity Officer, Vice President, Inclusion & Diversity for McDonald’s (can you believe McDonald’s even has a position with that title?), responded “I would like to take this opportunity to reaffirm our position on diversity.”

Richard Ellis who filled the seat on the NGLCC board said “I’m thrilled to join the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce and ready to go to work. I share the NGLCC’s passion for business growth and development within the LGBT community, and I look forward to playing a role in moving these important initiatives forward.”

Commenting on McDonald’s involvement in social issues, McDonalds CEO Jim Skinner said “Being a socially responsible organization is a fundamental part of who we are. We have an obligation to use our size and resources to make a difference in the world … and we do.”

I thought their obligation was to make a good hamburger.

McDonald’s has every right to give as much money as they want to any organization they choose. How a company spends its money is totally between the board members, the CEO and the shareholders. But it’s also my right to choose where I buy my hamburger, fries (super sized) and coke. McDonald’s has decided to take sides on a issue that the Bible clearly defines as an abomination before God. So what side will you choose? McDonald’s side or God’s side? Think about that next time you get a craving for a Big Mac.
