"Eight years after watching the phenomenal success of Mel Gibson's "The Passion of the Christ," Hollywood promoter and producer David Wood remains steadfast to a vision that he credits to God – the story of the resurrection of Jesus Christ told by way of a major motion picture.
Gibson's movie, which is also referred to as "The Passion," depicted Jesus' final 12 hours of his life, but eludes only briefly to his resurrection at the end.
Wood plans to produce what some in the Christian filmmaking community and beyond believe will be "God's sequel" to the film, depicting the events surrounding the resurrection and the 40 days that followed. "The Resurrection" will be unique in many ways, he told The Christian Post on Monday.
"The real power of Christianity is the risen Jesus," Wood, 49, said. "Even though we all know that Christ went to the cross for our sins, it's really the power of him resurrecting, which is the power of who we as Christians truly are. This second story is about this. It's a story about love and hope. This is a much more positive story."
In addition to producing "The Resurrection," Wood, who is a 30-year veteran in the filmmaking and promotion industry, has another vision perhaps even more stunning. He plans to. . ."

I agree. IMHO, The Passion really fell flat at the end because it minimized the most important part of the story. I really hope Wood is successful in this endeavor.
I kinda liked the way it ended. On the one hand, he could have done a lot more there, but for me, when I saw the graveclothes losing their shape and the hand with the hole in it my heart was full, but maybe tha's because I knew what had just happened. And on the flip side of that for an unbeliever, perhaps that was enough to get them questioning. Hey what just happened here? And open the door to witnessing opportunities. It didn't really minimize it for me personally. As a Christian the resurrection scene was a punctuation mark. Now the idea of a sequel to the movie is pretty cool. But for it to develop into a real story line for a full length motion picture...I think they will have to get into some of the events that took place after the resurrection and even being to look at the early ministries of the apostles after Jesus' ascension.
This sounds awesome. Can't wait!
I would have to respectfully disagree. The Passion was not about the Resurrection but just about the, well Passion. I think with that added in the same movie it would not have the impact it did. I think a sequel with the Resurrection would be great and hopefully they can do it like the Passion.

I agree, people myself and my wife included never really knew what it meant for Jesus to die the way that he did on the cross.. I'll tell you the theater we were in had members of the University of TN Volunteer football squad as well as motorcycle clubs "Outlaws" and other groups and families and when I looked to my left a biker took the bandanna off his head to wipe his tears during the scourging and carrying the cross, I saw football players crying I think the point was driven home for those who needed to see it just that way, give them one thing at a time to digest. I do think that the sequel should have been in the can so to speak so it could have been released sooner, that would have had a greater impact.I would have to respectfully disagree. The Passion was not about the Resurrection but just about the, well Passion. I think with that added in the same movie it would not have the impact it did. Yeah, I agree here as well. Certainly the Resurrection is key...afterall, if Jesus did not raise from the dead, then we believe in vain. But I think the point that was driven home in "The Passion" was that there was not an "Easter" (Resurrection) until there was a "Good Friday" (Passion). I think a movie about the Resurrection would be extremely powerful if it began with some scenes about the passion (not necessarily that movie...but the suffering Christ endured from some view or another). To me, that would drive home the message that...not only did this man suffer in this way for me...but this is no mere "man"...GOD did this for me!
I watched The Passion again over the Easter weekend, and I really wish that it could be remade without all of the RCc dogma infiltrating it. Really? Jesus fell over and over and over and over (ad nauseum) again?
If he had just stuck to scripture, it would have been superb.
Hello all,
I agree too. I think a movie about the Resurrection would be extremely powerful if it began with some scenes about the passion. To me, that would drive home the message that...not only did this man suffer in this way for me...but this is no mere "man"...GOD did this for me!
