One in seven thinks end of world is coming: poll

"Nearly 15 percent of people worldwide believe the world will end during their lifetime and 10 percent think the Mayan calendar could signify it will happen in 2012, according to a new poll.

The end of the Mayan calendar, which spans about 5,125 years, on December 21, 2012 has sparked interpretations and suggestions that it marks the end of the world.

"Whether they think it will come to an end through the hands of God, or a natural disaster or a political event, whatever the reason, one in seven thinks the end of the world is coming," said Keren Gottfried, research manager at Ipsos Global Public Affairs which conducted the poll for Reuters.

"Perhaps it is because of the media attention coming from one interpretation of the Mayan prophecy that states the world 'ends' in our calendar year 2012," Gottfried said, adding that some Mayan scholars have disputed the interpretation.

Responses to the international poll of 16,262 people in more than . . . "

    As for the Mayan Calender

BTW the Mayans don't really say it's the end of the world...... they say that their feathered serpent god is returning and it is the start of a new era.

Oh, well that's a much more comforting thought.

Actually there are many pagan and Cultic peoples that have prophesied something really significant will happen in the last quarter of the year or first part of 2013. The Aztec, Incas, Hopi, Navajo and Cherokee Indians all are looking for a feathers serpent got to return. The Zohar in book three section 34 says the Jewish messiah will return. That would be in the Jewish year 5773 which starts at the new moon in late September, 2012. The Hindu's are looking for something written in the Veda's happening and then there was that prophecy by Malachi about the latest pope. Malachi Martin was in the process of writing a book that went along with the prophecy of the popes and more detail of the blood ritual that enthroned Satan as the head of the Catholic Church...... all this in the time frame of the next year or so.

While I personally don't pick dates for the Lord coming, I find it really odd that so many different groups of people are focused on the time frame toward the end of this year for the rise of what we would call the dark side.

I don't have a position on this but the next year or so, should prove to be interesting.

    End of the world coming?

According to Revelation, the world as we know it will be completely devastated..prior to the return of Jesus...things like "the moon and stars did not give their light" and "waters red with blood, and dead fish" "one third of earth's populaton destroyed initially..sounds very bad doesn't it? Well it will be...God's people will be protected Revelation 12,17...for those "who have the testimony of Jesus and follow the Commandments of God" Jesus also describes end time events in Matthew 24..."unless these days were shortened NO flesh would survive, but for the elect's sake they will be shortened" Then the sun of man will return" Revelation also points out the New Jerusalem will descend from Heaven, which Jesus will rule with His followers...so rough times ahead for planet earth and it's occupants...time for a cleansing!
