That's an interesting question. I had to think about it for a bit, but my guess is that it was Abel.

Ok so I was listen to CSM (Christian Satellite Radio) and heard a very interesting comment. So I turned it into a trivia question for my husband and a couple of my coworkers.
Who do you thing was the first person to go to heaven?
I will wait a little to see if anyone comes up with the correct answer. My boss did after a few hints. LOL

Sorry it took so long to get back to you. Went to the the movie last night to see "October Baby" Good move!
Anyway... the answer is "the thief on the cross". My reason on this is that Jesus said, Luk 23:43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise. We know that Jesus died before the "thief". Joh 19:32-33 Then came the soldiers, and brake the legs of the first, and of the other which was crucified with him. (33) But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs.
I did this little trivia to show the wonderful grace of Jesus' sacrifice. My first thought on this was Stephen and so did my husband. Why? Do we think Stephen is more worthy? Yet the first one to enter into Heaven was a vile sinner, a thief washed in the Blood of Jesus, forgiven without any works attributed to him.
This is such a wonderful witness to the forgiveness available to all.
Interesting, I think though it might have been before that even. Moses

Some believe that Enoch, Noah's great-grandfather, did not die, but was taken directly to heaven. (Gen. 5:24)
Also, wasn't Elijah taken to heaven in a chariot of fire?
Old testament saints were taken to paradise, also referred to as Abraham's bosom. I believe Colossians 1:15-20 talks about Jesus being pre-eminent in all things. I believe this means that he would be the first to enter heaven. Prior to Jesus' death, burial, resurrection and ascension into heaven, I think all the saints waited in paradise to enter heaven.
