The way this thread was going I thought they were finally going to give mainliners credit for something good, but I guess they believe the Southern Baptist Convention ended slavery. Can you guess which side they'd have beeen on 200 years ago?

Re-gardless of the fact that happens all the time, it has nothing to do with that. Here we have a country that ended slavery while it continues in other countries around the world, but all he wanted to do was look for the dirt under our fingernails. You know what? It is everywhere. If you and BB want to dwell on the past and ignore the good that has been done, and attempt to find the dark cloud in every silver lining, go ahead. Just don't expect it to be welcomed with open arms.

WHO SAID THAT? OR ANYTHING CLOSE? You hatred for and ignorant prejudice against the SBC is showing BB. They are not perfect, but there are many Godly people associated with it and they have done a lot of good. Perhaps you could consider that for once instead of constantly trying to trash that with which you find fault or disagreement.

Where have I ever trashed another Christian organization on this site? Show me one example please. Just one. You otoh trash Baptists every chance you get. You need to get over it, and climb down off your high-horse, because you're far from perfect pal, and there are NO denominations that are. All have their problems, so wise up and stop being such a wise-acre.

To be fair, the Southern Baptist Convention has formally apologized for backing slavery, and later for backing segregation. That took a great deal of courage and Christian humility. They are not the same organization they were a few decades ago.
Southern Baptists Apologize For Past "Acts Of Evil".
The overwhelmingly White Southern Baptist Convention has finally issued an apology to Black Americans for condoning racism for much of its 150th-year history.
"We lament and repudiate historic acts of evil such as slavery from which we continue to reap a bitter harvest, and we recognize that American slavery was particularly inhumane," said a resolution put forth by the Southern Baptists, who met in Atlanta, Georgia, recently for its annual convention.
The vote in favor of the resolution was received by a standing ovation from nearly 20,000 members of the nation's largest Protestant ...
