McDonalds Vows To Remain Neutral

McDonald’s reverses it’s position after the Christian based American Family Association called for a nationwide boycott. Apparently Christians were eating a lot of Big Macs and Happy Meals.

Back in July I made a post about McDonald’s support of gay activists groups, specifically a $20,000 donation to the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC) and the Vice President of McDonalds, Richard Ellis, serving on the NGLCC board.

Initially McDonald’s stood by their support of the NGLCC. CEO Jim Skinner said “Being a socially responsible organization is a fundamental part of who we are. We have an obligation to use our size and resources to make a difference in the world … and we do.”

What a difference a three month boycott can make. The American Family Association announced today that McDonald’s has reversed it’s position and agreed to remain neutral on social and political issues. McDonald’s announced that Vice President, Richard Ellis has resigned from the organizations board and that membership in NGLCC will not be renewed once it expires in December.

McDonald’s sent an email to it’s franchise owners saying, “It is our policy to not be involved in political and social issues. McDonald’s remains neutral on same sex marriage or any ‘homosexual agenda’ as defined by the American Family Association.”

  1. Praise God
I can eat a Big Mac again ! 🙂 Seriously, I don't think the majority of Christians realise how much economic clout we have. Even if companies or their CEO's don't want to be a christian they sure do want our christian dollars, which amazingly are the same as a gay persons dollar or an atheists dollar. I think it's time we use money as a tool to influence America with christian principles just as the other groups do. Because there are at least 50 to 85% of people in America who either are christians or hold to christian principles compared to 2 to 10 % of gay, lesbian, atheist and humanist groups combined and these groups know it and are terrified that we well wake up and find out ! Money itself is not evil but should be used to promote the gospel and Christ and sometimes that means withholding it from organazations that use our money that we give to them for wicked practises. Way to go American Family Association and church of Jesus Christ

  2. Thank God there is still christians that will stand up for what is right. I have not ate at a McDonalds since the news about McDonalds support of NGLCC. But I want the world to know that I do not hate anybody, but I do hate a sinful life style. God's word teaches us to love everybody but to hate sin!!! God Bless!!

  3. Well, if ever they become bias again, I have no problem boycotting them. I can always go to a healthier fastfood places.

  5. At some point, I do agree with McDonald's, that they are just being neutral with every one. They are a business establishment so they need to be neutral to their customers.  If they have chosen to support the gay and lesbian community, we can do nothing with it. It's their opinion let just pray to God that He may guide us in every way.
