Great Things Happen When God Mixes With Us

Have you ever wondered why some people seem to be blessed in life while others struggle to get by? Why is it that some people always find themselves in the right place at the right time or have that ‘lucky break’ that launches them to success?

The answer often comes down to one thing – being in alignment with God’s will and allowing Him to guide our lives.

If you’re short on time, here’s a quick answer to your question: When we invite God into our lives and build a relationship with Him through prayer, worship and reading the Bible, we open ourselves up to receiving His blessings, favor and the fulfillment of His divine plan for our lives.

This leads to great and miraculous things happening in our lives that we could never make happen on our own.

Building A Relationship With God Allows Us To Align With His Will

Daily prayer and reading the Bible

Starting each day with prayer and Bible reading allows us to connect with God and seek His will for our lives. As we spend time in His Word, we gain wisdom and insight to make decisions that align with His purposes. Setting aside quiet time to speak to God helps us draw closer to Him.

We can pour out our hearts to Him, and listen for His still, small voice guiding us. Through regular prayer and Scripture reading, we tune our hearts to God’s desires and walk the path He has for us.

Active participation in church community

Being part of a church provides fellowship with other believers who can encourage and challenge us in our faith. Attending worship services, small groups, and volunteering allows us to use our gifts and be refreshed spiritually.

As we build relationships within the church community, we have people who can pray for us, hold us accountable, and support us. Their wisdom and experiences help give us perspective on aligning our lives with God’s will. We also have opportunities to serve and share our faith with others.

Staying invested in church life keeps us connected to God’s greater purpose and mission in the world.

Worshipping and praising God

Lifting our voices in worship is a powerful way to align with God’s will and purposes. As we sing songs of praise, our focus shifts from earthly things to eternal things. We reflect on God’s love, grace, and sovereignty over all creation.

Entering into worship helps recalibrate our hearts toward greater obedience and trust. It fills us with awe and gratitude for who God is. It revives our passion for following and serving Him. Heartfelt worship brings breakthrough, healing, and renewal as God’s presence flows over us.

Through praising God even in difficult times, we surrender more fully to His will, knowing He is faithful.

Serving others and giving generously

When we serve and give freely of our time and resources, we step into the overflow of God’s generosity in our own lives. As we meet the needs of others in Jesus’ name, we join His work of redemption in this world. We grow more compassionate, selfless, and humble as we serve.

Our priorities align more closely with the things that matter most to God – people knowing His love and goodness. We develop a servant’s heart like Jesus did. We learn to trust God more as we give, seeing Him provide supernaturally for us.

Serving generously moves us out of self-focus into a life poured out for others, reflecting God’s Kingdom values.

When Aligned With God’s Will, We Are Positioned For Blessings

Doors open to new opportunities

When we follow God’s calling and align our lives with His perfect will, amazing doors swing wide open (Psalm 118:19). We are presented with divine opportunities that we could not orchestrate on our own.

As we walk in obedience and faith, relying on God’s wisdom and timing, He directs our steps to places we never could have imagined (Proverbs 3:5-6). For example, a new job suddenly becomes available that is a perfect fit, or a chance meeting opens up an exciting ministry possibility.

We must trust that God sees the big picture and knows exactly what we need. When we yield to Him, the possibilities are endless!

We are at the right place at the right time

God’s timing is flawless. When we are living in sync with His plans, He orchestrates events so that we are right where we need to be at just the right time (Ecclesiastes 3:1). For instance, we might “happen” to sit next to someone on a plane who desperately needs encouragement.

Or we may receive a call from a struggling friend just when we’ve been praying about how to comfort them. We don’t believe in coincidences – we know that these divine alignments are by God’s strategic design. He can accomplish great things through us if we make ourselves available.

We attract divine favor and provision

When God directs our steps, we walk under His supernatural blessing and favor. Doors swing open, resources are provided, and people are compelled to help us (Proverbs 16:3). For example, we may get unexpectedly offered a scholarship to go back to school or continue ministry training.

Or a family in the church sells their beach house to us for a fraction of its value as a blessing to provide a calming retreat for busy ministry families. God delights in taking care of His children and making a way where there seems to be no way. We simply have to walk in obedience and willingness.

We walk in supernatural peace and joy

Following God’s leading ushers in supernatural peace and joy, despite circumstantial uncertainty (Isaiah 26:3). We can experience calm assurance that He holds the future and will work out every detail for our good (Jeremiah 29:11, Romans 8:28).

Even when things don’t make sense in the moment, we trust Him completely. This produces a gentle joy that cannot be shaken (John 16:33). Hardships are reframed as opportunities to see God’s faithfulness. We do not have to strive or control outcomes.

As we yield to His will, we receive the gift of His perfect peace (John 14:27).

Examples of God Doing Great Things When People Align With His Will

The story of Joseph – betrayed by brothers but became second in command in Egypt

Joseph’s story is an incredible example of God turning a bad situation into something great (Genesis 37-50). Though betrayed by his jealous brothers and sold into slavery, Joseph remained faithful to God. In Egypt, Joseph gained favor and was placed in charge of Potiphar’s household.

Though falsely accused by Potiphar’s wife and imprisoned, Joseph found favor and was soon put in charge of all the other prisoners. Through God-given dreams, Joseph was eventually brought before Pharaoh to interpret his dreams, warning of a coming famine.

Impressed by Joseph’s wisdom, Pharaoh appointed him second in command over all of Egypt, allowing Joseph to save many lives from the famine, including his own family. Though difficult, Joseph’s journey shows that God can bring amazing things out of our trials if we trust in Him.*

The story of Esther – an orphan who became a queen and saved the Jews

The story of Esther is another great example of God using someone in an unexpected way (Esther 2:5-7). Though an orphaned Jewish girl living in exile, Esther gained the favor of King Xerxes and was chosen to be his new queen.

Meanwhile, the king’s advisor Haman plotted to destroy all the Jews in Persia. Upon learning of the plot, Esther’s cousin Mordecai convinced her to risk her life and speak to the king on behalf of her people. Esther courageously approached Xerxes, who was angry Haman would threaten her people.

Xerxes ordered Haman to be hanged on the gallows he had intended for Mordecai. Through Esther’s bravery and God’s favor, the Jewish people were saved from destruction.*

The feeding of the 5,000 – Jesus miraculously multiplied a few fish and loaves

The story of Jesus feeding the 5,000 shows His divine power and care for people (Matthew 14:13-21). Immense crowds seeking Jesus had gathered, becoming hungry in the remote area. The disciples wished to send them away, having only five loaves and two fish.

But Jesus told the disciples to bring Him what little food they had. He then miraculously multiplied the food, feeding the entire multitude and even having 12 baskets leftover. This awe-inspiring event revealed Jesus’ authority over nature and that He can abundantly provide for our needs if we offer what we have to Him.*

The apostles – simple fishermen who brought the Gospel to the world

Jesus’ 12 apostles demonstrate God empowering ordinary people to do extraordinary things (Matthew 10:2-4). Though common laborers like fishermen, Jesus chose them to be His closest followers and continue His work after He ascended to Heaven.

After receiving the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, the apostles boldly spread the Gospel across the Roman Empire and beyond, despite persecution. Their impact was so profound that their simple testimonies of Jesus’ resurrection turned the world upside down (Acts 17:6).

Church tradition holds they went on to die martyrs’ deaths never renouncing their faith in Christ. Through God’s strength, these simple men brought salvation through Jesus Christ to millions.*

Partnering With God Unlocks Our Greatest Potential

We only reach our fullest potential when we rely on Him

When we try to live life in our own strength, we often feel overwhelmed and fall short of reaching our highest aspirations. But the Bible reminds us in Philippians 4:13 that “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

There is unlimited power available to those who put their trust in God and rely on His guidance and ability rather than their own (see biblegateway.com).

As believers, we are filled with the same Holy Spirit power that raised Jesus from the dead and turned timid disciples into bold proclaimers of the gospel (see Ephesians 1:19-20). Relying on our own wisdom and resources will always come up short compared to what can be accomplished when we partner with the Creator of the universe!

When we yield control to God, we free ourselves to reach the full potential He intended for our lives.

His plans for us are higher than our own goals and dreams

Proverbs 19:21 reminds us that “Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” As much as we might think we know what is best for our lives, God sees the full picture from an eternal perspective.

His understanding goes far beyond our own, so we can trust that His purposes and plans for each of our lives are higher and better than anything we could imagine.

In Jeremiah 29:11, God declares this over His people: “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” When we align ourselves with His plans rather than our own limited goals and dreams, we position ourselves to experience the true meaning of prosperity from the Creator’s perspective.

When we honor Him, He honors and promotes us

1 Samuel 2:30 states that “those who honor me I will honor.” As we choose daily to value God’s priorities and obey His principles, He sees and responds! Scripture is filled with examples of God promoting and blessing those who honored Him: Joseph rose from imprisoned slave to prime minister of Egypt; Ruth went from desperate widow to cherished bride; Esther ascended from orphaned girl to Persian queen.

These Bible heroes all submitted themselves fully to God’s purposes during difficult circumstances. When we honor God in the small decisions of life, He is able to entrust us with greater Kingdom responsibility.

Rather than trying to promote ourselves, “Humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God and in due time He will exalt you” (1 Peter 5:6).

The Holy Spirit empowers us beyond our natural abilities

Jesus told His disciples in Acts 1:8, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you.” The very same Spirit that empowered history-makers like Peter, Stephen and Paul lives inside every follower of Jesus!

With the supernatural empowerment of the Holy Spirit, we can accomplish things far greater than our natural talents and strengths could achieve alone. We are not limited by our backgrounds, weaknesses or tendencies when we tap into this incredible power source through daily dependence and sensitivity to His leading.

Bible teacher Bill Johnson notes that “the Holy Spirit works through surrendered vessels to release Heaven’s reality into the earth.” As we yield ourselves fully to becoming conduits of God’s Spirit here on earth, we will witness supernatural possibilities unmatched by human potential alone.

What shall we attempt for His glory today?

Conclusion

In closing, when we open our hearts to God and align our lives with His purposes, miraculous things begin to happen. We come into agreement with the Creator of the universe who offers us abundant life.

When God mixes into our lives, He takes our natural talents and abilities and brings them to a supernatural level. With God on our side, directing our steps, great things happen that display His glory, change eternity, and allow us to walk in blessings and fulfillment.

If you want to unlock the amazing things God has planned for your life, make building your relationship with Him a priority every day.
